I remember it as decent and cheap, mostly Thai options. Nothing extensive options wise. You could get beer too and pretty decent price. Again, this was quite a bit back so take the food review as probably not terribly reliable and who knows whether they still serve booze.Originally Posted by Chico
One nice food related thing was that the camp staff invited all the non-staff travelers one night to eat at a party they were throwing to commence the start of high season. There were only about ten of us on the island at the time. It was a feast, free beer too. We launched candle boats off the dock into the water along with the Thais that we all made while eating.
It sounds cheesy but it was fun and the whole place just felt like being a kid

This is in PKK, yeah? Having trouble recalling the name of the beach. Pretty sure I've been there....

I have a vague memory of a chef's website, but don't remember a dedicated thread where all of chico's bullshit was laid bare. Possibly it would be too time-consuming.
As for 'shame', it seems to be left luggage at suwannapoom for a lot of people.
Any of the islands off of Trang and Satun
Yes, J and I spent a few weeks there. Pretty nice place, water not so good for swimming, swarming with jellyfish. Lots of old local drunks at the same bars night after night. Seemed like we knew half of them by the end of our time there.Originally Posted by CSFFan
We may have stayed at the same place. Started with a P....
The water was perfect when we've been there. I spent the mornings/afternoons swimming with a nap in between.Originally Posted by redhaze
Yes, probably the same place...

Probably one of those places where the tide can either dump rubbish all over the beach or wash most of it away, depending on your luck.
Often the case in rainy season.
That would be the perfect time, I'd think.Originally Posted by crackerjack101
There is a big dog rescue there where I managed to get in some volunteer work during our stay. Its on the far end of the beach so you wouldn't see it unless you knew it was there. Probably the source of the aggressive dogs.Originally Posted by cyrille

It wasn't like that, the beach was fine. Water level was good. Just literally millions and millions of jellyfish of all shapes and sizes. All in the water, right up on the shoreline, and washed up on the beach. I'd actually never seen anything quite like it.Originally Posted by OhOh
Maybe it was just a weird year, I don't know. No way was anyone getting in that water. I'm trying to recall the time of year but am drawing a bit of a blank. I'm actually thinking around September/October which is kind of odd because that is right around the same time when Top is saying it was no issue. Maybe just a very odd year/mating season or something
I spent basically all day either swimming or drinking at at local beach bar....there was zero mud, all sand.Originally Posted by OhOh
