It's outside the small window on the roof. Very discrete and I must say I'm impressed with how quiet it is. Barely hear it on the one occasion that I ran it.

To be honest I doubt it'll get used that much but it's there now so onwards and upwards. It'll keep the comps cool if nothing else.

Your house is to nice to be A/C encumbered...

We have two the wall mounted fans...we never use them, they're too loud and really, for the size, don't move that much air.

I would agree that Daikin is the best AC on the market. If you are buying it with someone else's money, that is what I would opt for but they are a bit expensive. If your landlord declines, Mitsubishi is a good brand and I have one in my guest bedroom that is 10 years old and still going strong. I recently purchased two more inverter Mitsubishis for my other two bedrooms.

Daikin are more expensive and I think they are only worth fitting in areas where they will get high usage, for areas where AC gets minimal use & its taken me years to realise it, you may as well just put any "bargain" unit in as there will never be a "pay back" to justify the initial cost! If a AC is running for long periods, smart technology and Inversion will lower running costs, but if they are not run regular it becomes a mute point.

We run the A/C in the bedroom probably 12 hours a day....

I must say, from what you both told me I'd find it difficult to live in BKK.
I like the fact that we get seasons up here even if I do complain when the chill factor seems excessive.

Hot over cold every time IMO.

Hot = walk slowly, breathe deeply and don't talk about it. You'll be fine.

Cold = rug up and keep moving or build a bloody big bonfire or get another body in the bed.

12 to 14 hours a day Tops, 7 years was a good run...

I just checked into a hotel in BKK on way back to work.

Use the same hotel most of the time. Studio is 3200 baht right now.

Recently remodeled and they did something to the fucking aircons, seems like its locked out at 23. I put it on 16 and it stays at 23 room temp.

Never did this before and even changed rooms. Still wants to sit at 23.

Just got done adjusting the vents so they blow on me while I'm in bed.

Fucking crisis I tell ya. 3200 baht and they decided what aircon temp I will have? Nah.

Rule of Thumb for normal room normal size windows is 160 watts per square metre (50 BTUs per sq ft) with insulated ceiling. DO NOT use LG or Samsung. Mitsubishi Electric,(Mitsubishi heavy industries also make A/C but not the same quality) Daikin or Panasonic. The newest ones use R32 (The latest) or R410a gas. Reliability and longevity is also due to installation quality. Get a good installation tech.
Your bedroom is quite large so I would think about 25,000 BTUs. Especially if you are in a humid climate. Get one with an inverter. They are cheaper to run but you need a good power supply.
In fairness I should tell you my shop sells Mitsubishi Electric and Panasonic and we are authorised service agents for Panasonic.

For those who want to acclimate and just have fans, good for you. I am not one of those people and AC is a godsend here in Thailand. The best thing is that electricity is dirt cheap here and I have no problem paying a few baht for comfort.
