After seeing CE moaning about having no mates, so he wants to leave Thailand, I thought I'd give him a bit of help.
The Winking Frog on Suk Soi 7 is a footy pub and always welcomes people in who want to watch a game or even play for the pub team. Derek is the landlord (he's a bit of a northerner though) so go and introduce yourself.
The food is pretty good too, if you want some real home-made English cooking. Or alternatively, you can order the food to be delivered to your home (ChefsXpress).

Just added a link to Thai GAA (Gaelic Sports in Thailand)
Did he not represent England at some stage?..Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog

Glad to see so many health freaks on the forum.
I started riding a bike and playing golf about 4 months ago, seems to work, provided i limit my beer intake to one day a week.
At least the doctor says I can stop taking the high blood pressure tabs, thats a good sign i guess.
[quote=Marmite the Dog;885]If you want to play a bit of rugby, try these clubs.
If Rugby is the 'game they play in heaven' me thinks there are many here who may miss the kick-off!
Wow. This thread has been stuck here for 5 years and only 2 pages longlooks like most TD'ers are, well, .......mostly spectators

I play Tennis at the British club and basketball at my local court, Thai's are very good at basketball surprisingly.
Does sex count ?

Muay Thai training is a great, brutally intense work-out- it pushes you to work in an anaerobic state, so even if you do regular cardio (running, biking, etc.) you will improve in a range you probably don't ordinarily reach- I do three one-hour lessons per week.
Where do you train? There was a boxing / muai thai instructor local to me at a fitness centre in Rayong until recently. I used to box and enjoyed training with the guy, but he fell out with the manager at the place and left, unfortunately. Now don't have a venue to train around here after work..

I don't know mate...........depends if you can play or not.Originally Posted by smeden

Don't know if you can call that sport but I can't get up and down a ladder or shimmy across rood tiles like I used too.![]()

I move around a bit- I have gyms I train at at a couple of places (not that I'm any great practitioner of the art- I love the work-out, though)- a decent trainer can assess your ability pretty quickly (and, if you've trained before, you'll be able to tell a decent trainer right off the bat)- there are gyms pretty much everywhere, though- there must be a few near your current location.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

I'm going to be playing rugby end of this month. Or at least my approximation of playing rugby.
And then I'm retiring. Officially. And I mean it this time. Not like the other 12 timkes I have retired.

I played my last game (all 83 seconds of it) about 18 months ago. Nearly killed me.Originally Posted by AntRobertson

^^^
Turning 40 is no excuse to turn into a pussy (not that there's anything wrong with a round of golf)- you can increase your strength and athletic ability well into your 40's.
If I make 83 seconds at my current fitness levels I'll be doing well. Rugby 10's mind you.Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog
