we're still undecided its either adobe or earth bags,waiting for a couple of guys getting back to me,but I'm in no rush,this job ain't getting messed up. ;I hope;

A lot of stuff said about Euca,there not supposed to be planted around ponds either,though majority of ponds have them my ponds are surrounded by them, we didn't put all the Euca stumps in the locals are taking them away. we did put the big mango stump in though.

Isn't Eucalyptus toxic to aquatic life?

never had a problem fish are still swimming around we had a couple out the other day and nowt wrong with them,though I've noticed all the weeds have gone,though the fish may of ate them.

Mango wood is toxic if burned. So do not use in a BBQ.
As for Eucalyptus trees. Didn't Abo's use the sap to stun or kill fish?

Yet, I might still be weary of Euc as it's quite destructive to the already poor soil that permeates the plateau - sucks the life outta any area where it grows [plantation style].

beats planting rice maize etc,and sure as hell easier to make money,and there is differing opinions about the subject.

The locals around here believe it stops the rain.

You may wish to read up on the Ecology of Euca.

Then again you may wish to read up on the destruction of farmland through pesticides etc.

Just came back from the farm to see the water being drained from one of the ponds,must be about half metre of Euca leaves in the bottom of the pond and the fish are happy as larry and are still alive,though the wife and friends are having there fun trying to catch the little rascals.

Coffee break time. phew have to stay there day watching them trying to ram as much earth into the land as possible,got to the point that i have to tell them how many loads per row,and watching the wife in horror. she's gettin it now when i explain there here to make as much as possible and we want to save money.

Perhaps if you write down the requirements it woul...oh, never mind.

May have missed it but how high you want fill and in how many m2?

Having researched this also, and still a year or so away from start building I came to some conclusions: hot and humid climate asks for wind and shadow.
The adobe and/or earthbags are suitable for hot arid arid climates. A while ago I spend a couple nights in a clayhouse in a resort in pala-u. The clayhouse works if you keep it open in the night and close it during the day. This is a security issue and not practical in use.

My house gonna be on poles to catch wind. Also no concrete etc . Probably wood. A half hour after sunset the house will have the same temp as the surroundings. Many awnings all around and a lot of shiftdoors and/or strategically placed windows to catch the breezes.

[The land is approx 1344m2 as the width as usual around here are never straight, the fill will be around 1m when compressed. I reckon when finished tomorrow will be around 130/135 car loads.

About 17k baht. Not bad.

Think i could of got it cheaper,he grabbed my hand at 130 baht per car,when I'dbeen considering 120 baht,but happy with them they tried it on at first but they knew what i was saying.

Mate, no need ... seriously, it's a PITA to try and do.

Yes, some members say it's an intelligence test ... I say bollocks to that tripe ... it's massively inefficient.

I simply have a PhotoBucket (or similar cloud based photo storage accounts), upload to there and link.

Just set your folders up correctly the first time because, if the photo gets moved within PhotoPucket, the photo is lost to the board forever.

Just a suggestion ...

I've been considering poles for air flow.The home will be U shaped with covered areas right
around the front of the house.

An age old practice here - because it works.
Aside all of these newer impractical dwellings, you'll still find numerous of this design and understanding.

Must be my lucky day or people are really struggling just got a guy for 2750 baht to compress the land,usually they try and get 30 baht a car.
