    Chiang Mai Hotel Recommendations

The wife and I will be heading to the great white north the first week of April.

Having never been there before, we're looking for hotel recommendations.

    Requirements:

Downtown, easy walking distance of the market and eateries.

Decent...air con, in suite shitter and a restaurant.

    Price Range:

Above backpacker hostels but definitely below Slandreth's tastes.

    Thanks!

Topper then it is going to be as hot as BKK maybe more during the day but more cooling at night. Enjoy and rent a car and see the country side.

You will be there just before the crowds of Songkran.

This place would fit your requirements, I think. It's about 1,000 baht a night. Fairly central, clean, an impressive koi pond and has some character imo.

Tadkham Village, Chiang Mai, Thailand - Booking.com

This is a place that we really liked, however. Probably my favourite hotel in Thailand. If you hire a car then you won't need to be central of course.

    http://www.booking.com/hotel/th/lann...=total;ucfs=1&

So, the first place fits your requirements....the second place in case you are interested.

Stroller, hopefully will hook up with Nooners

Cyrille, thanks. We won't be driving, so it's more the downtown option for us.

    Tadkham Village is sold out....

I stay at Red Hibiscus Guesthouse when in CM. Small outdoor resturant for breakfast. Been a few years but was very good family run place. Less than 1k baht. Centrally located.

    Galare Guest House.
Convenient central location - river view.
    Quite and lovely garden setting.
    Full meal menus.

....and still, reasonable rates - single, double.

Easy: Duangtawan, where I always stay. Decent hotel, clean rooms, bathtub, and I can stream my TV off the Wifi (depending on the room.

2 minutes up Loi Kroh from the Night Bazaar.

And now you've got Uber the world is your hamster if you want to explore.

Added: A double is around Bt1700 at that time on Agoda.

I would stay away from there, you can hear someone farting the other side of the hotel, the walls are so thin.

    Keep it coming guys.

Have booked my flights for the first week of April for a couple of nights and require exactly the same as CSFfan.

Looked on Agoda and am thinking of the Pornping.

Not gonna be spending too much time in the room. More about location for shopping and sightseeing.

    Cheers

The Duangtawan is a far better location.

Plus the PornPing is dingy, the rooms are old and tired and about 30 years overdue a renovation. I think they still use the original bedding.

Plus it will be full of pissed cricketers that week.

Which reminds me, the Duangtawan has a much nicer pool and pool bar.

Well Albert, I've actually stayed there so I suspect you're the one talking shite.
