Marmite, in the Sunday magazines here, there have been quite a few features on small houses built very cheaply. Mostly using colourbond steel and industrial fittings and polished concrete. If I see any more I will save the link.

One of them especially, was built very cheaply.

Going by DD's info, there should be no problem (except security).
These ones were 7m wide and I forget how tall now....and they looked great.

As for DD's comment that they would look crap...well it depends on taste. I have seen the photos of houses he likes and all I can say is....lucky he lives in Thailand.

I like poisoning my neighbours dogs till they die cos I'm a cnut

Sure...I'm surprised Marms didn't initiate this thread with one of those classic, continuous, and updated 'I'm building a new house' thread. They're great aren't they? 2 years, 250K...taking the time. Looking for that feature of quality.

The thread was started to explore some ideas I had about the feasibility of a cheap, but contemporary house build.

I have neither the land nor the money to actually build the thing, but you never know, one day I might.

So now time to adjust the plans for a room for the kid.

Just recently I saw something similar to what you have in mind on tv and it really looked great.

    Step 1. Get land.

    Step 2. Design house.

Step 3. Position house on plot.

    Step 4. Start building!

    [Coming January 2019]
