The hotel we stayed at is that rectangular box near the river on the right. You can see the cleared land across the river and above it where they are building more hotels hence the view of this place will change soon.

After the sun came up the rays hit the mountainside to the west. The gray patch of ground near the center was where we took off from.

The rooms were nice and clean. The two beds came in handy when the masseuses showed up. I was going to say came but hey at least I'm honest.
Bil and our driver had an Identical room across the hall. They also had the girls show up. I didn't ask If they came either.
You cant see the entry but they had some cabinets and a stocked fridge.
The sliding doors were askew for this shot. I have one with them open all the way but miss fish then blocked the view.
The pool by the river and to the right was a hall where they have the breakfast buffet. Quite a large place bustling with tourists. I may have been the only Anglo-Saxon. Didn't stare, didn't care. Plenty of choices, I should have taken pics but that's silly and awkward to me. The steps between the pool and hall led to a boat dock where they will tour you around the river.
Sorry for not sizing the pic properly but this is the only way I know at the moment. I'll figure out photobucket some day. At least some of the pics are somewhat in focus this time around. I never said the fish was sharp.

May be a duplicate
having fun...
Ok so the path is a bit more that 45 min. I will get an eye in the sky then you may see the depths of this place. It is there for you If you follow the path. Not the place above as it is on the beaten path. The tad Fane experiance can and should be had by all. If you can keep your stuff in order.
Playing in the river above Tad Yuang on the Bolaven Plateau. This is the picnic spot.
What is and what should never be......I was viewing the go pro stuff. I would share it but just posting a pic is painfull. How to do motion?
I have a bit of film where the fish is trying to hitch a ride out of VTE ,Just for Kicks of course. The looks I got from the ladies on the scooters is priceless. The whole time the GF is saying"what if they stop to pick you up?" Even little Pinkie (her name, an six year old girl) was filming and getting quite a laugh out of it.

My guide. The place was closed due to high water.
He took us in as far as we could go. No complaints. He didn't have to so I felt very fortunate. I wanted Kong Lor cave but hell you can't allways get what you want. I guess I get what I need.

Great pics.
One of the locomotives The French left Behind.
Tad Yuang 40km east of Pakse. A nice spot for a picknick. I did see people being led by guides to this spot. We were fortunate as we had people more than happy to take us around the area. The road is under construction and I would say not really "safe" for the unwitting.
As we were by the rivers edge I spotted a pile of glass bottles along the bank. I thought oh no but then realized the group next to us was just chilling off a few. Then they offered me one. What is a fish to do.........what would you do. Too hot to say no, too young not to play so we drank by the creek on that bright sun lit day.....................

I believe this is the river above Tad Fane 38km east of Pakse. This is the place you want to bring a spare pair of shorts to. One to swim in the other to crap in if you go over.
This was taken from the tourist spot. The kid took us into the river on the left. It was going to the creek on the right when I turned back. Being on the edge of this cliff was enough for me.

Up stream of the picknick spot. Not impressive but a nice walk where I saw some small fry..........No not the naked children silly, little fish. Tad Yuang. I am mixing places up, sorry.
Jumping south to Se pan Don. This is the French Dock where the steamers met the trains All two of the little Loco's.
We were on a dolphin watching tour. These people were amazing, This was all because I said while in Pakse it would be cool to see the area. Yea, crazy. Not a nickle for them to take us all over this place. Boating the four thousand Island area at night as the sun went down. Nutzzzz. But they knew the river and hell it has some currents. I was filming and the gf had to say turn it off for the light of the camera was blinding our guy. Silly fish should know better!!!
Jumping back to Tad Fane. This is as close to the edge of Laos highest waterfall that a fish wants to get. It was heading up the cliff to the east river, bare foot and feeling naked, that I lost my nerve and settled for this place. Just up river was a nice swimming hole under a 10 meter falls far enough from the main falls for a nice swim.
Im mixing up places. This is the entrance to Buddaha cave. Some guy was watching bats come out of the cave and he got a little hungery so he climbed into to the cave. Thought he was hallucinating so said nothing to anyone for weeks. Then took some town folk in to see the Statues that are in the cave. Crazy shit. So now they built a stairway to heaven. Well to the cave anyway. This pic is looking over the river that flows under the cave. A few pic before see my guy with the tour boat.
