Australia Day - a bit of a 'larf

Celebrating Australia in the only way we know (or are marketed to) how.

For all you Aussies who are recently departed the wide brown land, you will have seen the various Australia Day Ads ... and how it's been cleverly tied to Lamb ... NZ Dickie ... look away now ... we didn't mean to do that to your ex-gf ...

This years ad ups the ante ... and made me smile. Some may recognise the many celebs featured ... though I don't recognise the opening three.

So, here is the contest ... name all the famous people in the 2017 campaign ad.

I met Wendall Sailor once ... fun guy and what you see as his TV persona does match him in real life.

Oh, if you thought that 2017 ad was a bit of a larf ... here is the 2016 ad ...

What a shame most Thais don't like lamb ...

Happy Australia Day to all that wonderful sunshine and open wood fires braising those meat joints.

I miss Mother Nature not the inhabitants (this word is deliberately chosen).

If you have never seen the series of ads, it may appear so.

Here is the original video from a few decades ago ...

Lamb didn't have much of a profile till an ex Aussie Rules player Sam Kekovich did the first ad identifying a marketing link between Lamb and Australia Day.

They were crude to start with, just a talking head with a unique voice as you can see, but over the years the ads have improved.

It's sort of like the super Bowl ads ... fun to watch.

So, I simply enjoy, around this time of year the annual Australia Day Lamb Advertisement ... then promptly forget about it a week later and my Thai Partner dislikes lamb and I haven't eaten it for years.

So, I have to pose the question ... am I 'unAustralian' ...
