Surely the top would be constructed of reinforced concrete prior to tiling. That then would need to be left to season before the forming can be removed. Causing a delay in the build.
That's how mine were built. Sorry no photo's, me camera's gone a bollix.

PS. My toilet/shower room cupboards were built in the same way. Each builder has their own methods.
