MH370 sonar data to be released

    27 Sep 2016

All sonar data gathered in the course of the 120,000 square kilometre search in the Southern Indian Ocean for the missing MH370 aircraft is to be publicly released by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) in December, according to Federal Transport & Infrastructure Minister, Darren Chester.

One of aviation’s greatest unsolved mysteries, the Malaysian Airlines’ Boeing 777 jetliner disappeared in March 2014 with 239 passengers and crew onboard while en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur, prompting an exhaustive search of uncharted seabed off Western Australia roughly the size of Greece. Operations involving deployment of a fleet of contracted Fugro survey vessels have thus far cost an estimated $180m with search crews sometimes encountering horrific conditions and waves of up to 24 metres.

Minister Chester has reportedly said that present inconclusive search operations may have to be suspended “pending any further credible evidence leading to the specific location of MH370”. Any subsequent investigations would require a fresh round of funding from the three governments involved, Australia, China and Malaysia, making them the most expensive in aviation history.

A prof Deckker from ANU reckons the barnacles on the flaperon found at Reunion started life in much warmer waters than they later grew in.

This is opposite of what one would expect if the plane came down in the cooler waters found at 30 degrees South latitude, somewhere west of Perth.

    More flaps.

More evidence of controlled low speed flight into the sea.

A piece of an aircraft wing found on the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius has been identified as belonging to missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, Malaysian and Australian officials said on Friday.

The piece of wing flap was found in May and subsequently analysed by experts at the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, which is heading up the search for the plane in a remote stretch of ocean off Australia’s west coast. Investigators used a part number found on the debris to link it to the missing Boeing 777, the agency said in a statement. Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai also confirmed the identification.

Really? Nothing about the colour of the undeveloped Barnacle pupae attached to the leading edge telling us that the plane is in Nova Scotia?

Do the Indian ocean currents, at the time of the "disappearance" run counter clockwise? You know from Diego Garcia towards Mauritius?
