I Need To Rent A Suit.

ive got a wedding to attend in a couple of weeks time, the reception is a formal affair.

i dont have a suit, but i will need to wear one, or at least a smartish jacket and trousers.

i dont want to buy one, it will only get worn the once.

are there any places in bangkok that rent suits.

    thanks for any help.

I was going to mention the wedding shops too. Depending on where you live, you don't have to go to Sukhumvit. I went to one of the ones on Lad Prao. There is a string of them around Chok Chai 4 and above that.

    Tax.

If in the future you want to buy a suit for the odd occasion, you can buy good material very cheap (by the meter - you need about 5m for a 3 piece) from "Sam Pheng" in chinatown.

If you take the material to a tailor in the back of sukhumvit that make the suits for the shops on the main road, they charge about 2k to measure you up and make the suit. One of the big cons in the suit business is to say they will make it out of good quality material but then give you shitty cheap material. This way you buy good shit and then it gets made.

i ended up having a suit made, a thai tailor on sukhumvit at the corner of soi 22.
he came to the house to do all the measuring and fittings.

they have moved and it's a shithole bar now, but the suit was and still is great.

lightweight worsted, charcoal with a subtle pinstripe in a "mad men" 60's style, narrow lapels and tightish cut trousers.

the suit is in blighty now, gets a lot of use and is wearing very well indeed.

    cost 7000b.

baitong boy should try them for his next romper suit.

suits are class, i wear it a lot in in the uk.

scruffwear has become passe, is just too trashy and a well tailored suit just adds that bit of class and panache to an already very very hansum man.
