No my job isn't too complicated. I would like to retire but I still have mouths to feed in Singapore for a few more years.
And another mouth to feed in Kanchanaburi anytime soon.....
    Oh. I see. Congratulations then.

This is £20 000 . For the land AND this build !!!!

Just down the road from me they sell used ' mobile ' homes and they are £30 000 to £40 000 and they are horrible.

You've got a great little place here . Economically sized and the materials look good enough . I think it's just what I need on our ' bus ' plot .

Can you post your plan ? ( Mostly just the sizes ).You must be really happy with it .

Can anyone tell me ....... if I went over to that cement power pole and painted it dark green from the ground up to about 2.5 metres would I find myself in jail ?

    Ah yes, the plan.......

Well as I mentioned it was a modified version of the free plan for a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house that I found on this TD thread

    https://teakdoor.com/construction-in-...aht-house.html (Thai House Plans - 500,000baht House)

So after discussion with the builder he came up with this detailed modified plan. hur hur.

Well it seems to be working so far anyway......

Mate, when we bought our place years ago there was a power pole in our yard. I have no idea why. Anyway she went off to the power department and for Bht3,000 they turned up and moved it our onto the road. It was so easy I couldn't believe it.
Well worth talking to the blokes in your local power office.

    .

This is good to know LJ .
Well worth Bht 3000 to move it though we have a problem with ours . It's already on the road but directly outside the plot .
And it's those damn cables that are the real eyesore .
Don't know where they could move it .

SBF ..... Thank you for the plan .

My mate just spent more than that on a Pop top camper.

Incredible value this build in a nice location.

I'd be developing the area all around that house for outdoor living, bang on a workshop and a garage and verandahs all round.

    Be fookin brilliant.

Bougainvillea might not be enough... But look into some of that giant bamboo... A well placed clump or two might do the trick...

There are not too many "players" who elect a small abode. Most elect a mansion even when a hovel will suffice.

So, what is the real deal?
The real deal is that I'm only 41, not yet retired - still working in Singapore and don't want to put all of my eggs in one basket. Especially somebody else's basket.

    Oh yes and I don't think I'm a "player" either ........

    Lookin good Fatboy,

You have a heap of space to build good stuff hanging off that house.

Going to be a little ripper.

I may just build one myself for that money. Screaming deal innit.

So far for the land and construction about 650,000 baht. We are buying the materials as we go along but have most of it bought now - there are a stack of receipts though which have not been tallied up. Bear in mind the last time i saw the place it was just a few pillars of steel in the ground.

I'm still hopeful of coming in within the budget but we still have the kitchen and other bits and bobs inside to decide on and buy.

I will exceed the budget if I feel it's necessary, but don't tell that to the missus. I think she has done a great job especially as she is due any day now.

Next week I will count up all the receipts and get a better idea of the spend so far.

I expect your well aware of this but ,, from personal experience I can tell you this is where a lot of bits add up pretty quickly and its very hard later on to pin point exactly where that element of the money goes .

I,m looking at that pic and I can't see it , but has the electric main been run into it yet ?

Yes and I'm not too sure what should be included in the 'build' cost. To be fair, 1 million baht is just a nice round number that I plucked out of the air just after reading a few building threads.
It's all pretty cheap when I compare to Singapore prices.

As for the electric, no it's not yet sorted out. It seems to be taking a long time and I've heard rumours that an additional personal payment may be required to the lady at the office to move things along a bit faster.
