I have only ever been disappointed by these cheap pasta deals, apart from a place in East Sydney that did spag bog, salad and garlic bread for a set price.
BTW, the mark up on spaghetti deals is enormous, and must surely fund the Mafia.
This place would impress you sabang, not with it's decor though as the place is open air and tatty, but the food is damn good and good portions.
Thappraya road, between Jomtien and Pattaya right next to the main entrance to Jomtien Nivate. 50 meters from Jade Bar which is in Jomtien Nivate![]()
Not bad by lookling at it. There is only one thing I see that isn't right, this happens at most places here in the USA too. Too much sauce on the pasta. I've come to acceot it as part of the experience. I'll try it out if I ever get back to Pats.
I found Rome a city of bricks and left it a city of marble. Augustus Caesar
Same here, I was'nt that keen on going to the place originaly but gave it a try, the food is really goodOriginally Posted by sabang
Look at it this way, the place is out of the tourist area so don't get many tourists, the place is pretty much a dump, parking is a bitch there, it seats about 100, we had to wait for seats, must have something going for itOriginally Posted by themook

Well they seem to have lost half of their seating, at least half, at this present moment the road from Pattaya to Jomtien is being widened and loads of land that busineses used to use is now being made part of the road, so expect longer waiting for a table and a lot more road noise and dirtPlus my table a couple of nights ago was covered in ants

Well I finally went to this place today for lunch, It's called Tino's btw, but the Italian flag is a dead giveaway.
Very good actually, and it's not just a pasta place- they have a pretty good menu overall.
We had-
Affettatti, 150 bht. This was a good size selection of Italian cold meats (a ham, a salami, and something else). Didn't come with bread though, so I ordered that extra. Bit of a treat this, 'cus I like those eytie smallgoods.
2- Spaghetti Vongole, 150 Bht. Pretty good, not the best I've had but certainly not the worst. This, the lasagne and the marinara are their most expensive pasta's. Mrs ordered this spicy, so I had to pick a few chilli's out.
Scallopine Pizzaiola, 120 bht. Outstanding actually, tender meat and a nice sauce. Cheap too, and a decent size, being 5 or so scallopine's.
The spag starts from 90bht for the Arrabiata, spagbog is 100 bht and it goes up from their to 150. Roast beef at 120 bht seemed an outstanding bargain, fritto misto 150, scallopine and milanese 120.
Mrs and I bill, including a large Leo, came to 480 bht- and that was going a bit on the large end of the menu.
I can recommend this place too- the food is just as good as many a place where you pay double the price for fancy decor and indifferent service. Wife and I prefer it to PanPan actually, which would be at least twice the price.![]()
^ i prefer Bruno's a touch more pricey tho...
~ Bruno's is a tad overpriced imo, considering you've got Mata Hari just up the road. They levy a ++ service charge, MH doesn't, and their wine is 'generously' markep up. Can't argue with the food though, sure beats PanPan .
But I do rate their price fixe' Lunch menu.
Its name is actually a lot longer than that, here is another thread on it Tino'sOriginally Posted by sabang
Brunos and Mata Hari are alright, just I cant be bothered dressing up just to go to some restaurant for a meal.
Been to Tino's three times now, I like the place.
One warning though- don't bother with their bruschetta, it's hopeless.
^Not even fresh tomato, when I was there. Kind of a tomato paste concoction. Still a good restaurant though.
I have not had Bruschetta with cheese on it.(or tomato paste either)
here is a good recipe if you are having a Barbie.
Bruschetta is one of the simplest things in the world to make, and can be very satisfying if you have good extravirgin olive oil.
INGREDIENTS:
- Bread, ideally freshly sliced
- Garlic
- Extravirgin Olive oil
- Salt
- Beans or tomatoes (optional)
- Hot coals, if possible
PREPARATION:
You will need 4 six-inch wide slices of Tuscan bread. Toast them, over the coals if possible (though a toaster will work fine if need be) gently rub them with a cut clove of garlic (you don’t want to overwhelm the oil), then drizzle them with good olive oil. zSB(3,3)Season with salt and pepper to taste, cut the slices in half, and serve. Serves 4.
There are lots of variations to bruschetta.
- One of the tastiest:
After rubbing the slices with the garlic, rub them with a very ripe cut tomato as well (or spread a thin layer of chopped tomatoes seasoned with basil, salt & pepper over the slices). Then sprinkle with olive oil and season. In addition to being a fine appetizer, this is a traditional merenda, or afternoon snack.
There can’t be good living where there is not good drinking

There is no cheese on bruschetta normally.
^ not the ones I know anyway.
Chopped tomatoes, garlic, parsley, salt & good olive oil.
But it certainly ain't tomato paste with some dried herbs mixed in.![]()

That's right.

wow wow and wow i love italian food, spagetthiyummy
Well we nipped down there again a couple of days ago, got to feel sorry for the old guy as he has a great successful restaurant, and the road outside his place has been a dirt track for the past year or so.
Anyway this time I was adventurous and actually ate stuff that I normally wouldn't think to eat, mine was the chicken in tomato sauce, probably boiled or steamed as it was so tender.
A plate of green beans, I tried them but I don't really eat vegetables as they are pretty bland to my mind, and yes, they were pretty bland, but if you eat vegetables they may have classed as world class veg for all I know
Italian sausage and mash, that was pretty damn good.
I really don't think I have ever eaten sardines before, I buy the tins for my dogs sometimes as a treat as they quite like them, but these make great beer food, covered in vinegar and salt, damn, they were good.
