    The Chinese Money Cat

Just about every Thai Chinese business in Thailand has 1 or 2 Chinese money cats, Mr Right arm raised cat here is for protection, also to protect your new found wealth if you bought the left arm raised money cat.

The gold and black object the cat is holding is an old Japanese symbol for money or coins.

Mr left arm raised cat is to bring in the money and make you wealthy, I ordered three of them

I feel sure that the clock and fruit machine symbols do mean something important, but I really have no idea what.

So Lets take a look here. Attract good fortune with lucky cats

A cat with it's left paw raised attracts wealth, a cat with it's right paw raised is for protection.

Lucky cats are traditional Asian items which represent good fortune and protection. Those who have lucky cats in their homes or working spaces will have their protection as well as the wealth benefits they attract. You can place lucky cats at any environment where you wish wealth to come.

Most of the times, there are two lucky cats represented together, one of them with its left paw up and the other with the right one up. The lucky cat raising its left paw is the one which specifically attracts wealth, while the lucky cat which raises the right paw is in charge of giving protection to those who keep it as well as to the income attracted by its partner.

The lucky cat which has its left paw up is depicted smiling. This smile is meant to invite good fortune and wealth to come to him and therefore to the place where he is. On the other hand, the lucky cat which raises the right paw shows a warning expression. This warning is what protects your income from any evil.

There are some indications you should take into account and follow regarding the place where your lucky cats will be. Ideally, they should be placed in the wealth area, at the southeast of the house or working space where they will be. If that is not possible, they should be placed in the northeast area.

If you wish to follow feng shui guidelines when placing your lucky cats, you should not only take into account the house area where you place them, but also the elements they contain. Therefore, if you will place your lucky cats in a metal area you should choose them made of metal, or if they will be in a fire area they should contain fire colors.

Lucky cats symbolize protection in all senses. They can see in the dark and protect you from what you might not be aware of. They would defend not only your income but also your house and all those who live in it. If you have them in your office, they will help you succeeding in your career as well as improving and protecting your income.

What happens if you break one? My daughter tore the arm off one that she was playing with in a New York Grill earlier this week?

Don't argue about the cat, but do argue on the origins. Pretty sure this is japanese in origin (its a Maneki-neko), rather than Chinese, although it has been adopted through much of asia...

^You are correct, but we don't have many Japanese Thais here in Thailand, so Chinese is more relevant I think. And that's why Mr Cat is holding a Japanese coin or money symbol.

That will depend upon whether the New York Grill has since closed its doors forever.

    Raised paws

So, the raised left paw draws wealth, the right raised protects wealth. Is something raised between them spiritual Viagra?

We bought a lucky cat ( Maneki neko ) from outside Big C a couple of weeks back for 50 baht to help Ms Bangyais ailing market stall. It didn't work ( probably because she left it at home ) and a couple of days ago she accidently ( on purpose ? ) knocked it off the tv stand and it broke. I performed surgury on it but it seems someone has already recorded the operation on an identical cat:

No fix and won't be getting another one ( unless I see a cute white one ).

The money/luck is supposed to continue only for as long as the arm continues to beckon said money/luck to its owner.

Gateway has a large static one outside and the place is turning into a huge white elephant. Horrendous parking arrangements, many unoccupied units, and few customers. I note IT city have reduced their floorspace. With any luck the Red shirt mob will select it for redevelopment this week.
I see fish. They are everywhere. They don't know they are fish.

We've got a decent-sized on and it hasn't brought us a cent. I think it might be a Chinese trick to drain the wealth of others or maybe it just doesn't bring in the dough because it's a low quality cheap Chinese reproduction of a real gold money cat.
