Most google products are blocked here, gmail is slow and sometimes like treacle depending on the mood of the day.
if you use google search it'll work for a couple of searches then won't.
Google has been miserabled in china.
Anyway, I can access gmail and found out I can download from www.androiddrawer.com (from where I got skype) bypassing google playstore, though I would like google maps. (even if it would only work intermittently)
Back to the smart phone, or 'piece of shit' as it has come to be known.
Hasn't lasted the day without running out of power.
the Nokia, which did everything and more (so far) the piece of shit does, I could charge for literally a couple of hours and not have to wory about it for a week, or maybe 4 days if heavy usage.
I am geting more used to handling it though so maybe it'll grow on me, though this battery thing is an issue as the battery seems to be built in and not easily interchangable with a spare charged battery.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys.

Go into Settings and look for Battery. It should tell you what is gobbling up the battery.

Post it here if it makes no sense.

Hang in there mate, I went through exactly the same thing a few months ago and wanted to frisbee my new "smart phone" clear off the f'king balcony!. A week or two of grief and some useful apps later (once you suss out how to download them) and you'll never look back.
    Me too. Kinda...

Bought one back in Australia in April, 700smackers[s3], flew back a month latter and serious frustrated, did flop the thing onto a bench as i was wont to do.

Now its a paper weight, useless and i could not give a shit. Life is better with no phone, no apps and none of the endless time wasting trying to keep up with what really in the end.

Ironically my previous phone was a cheap brick that caused great mirth for most. Could not kill that fucker. That phone i do miss.

Its still on the shelf, somewhere, my old and trusted and beloved Nokia 6233.

8 months with a smartphone now... I dumped a few apps that were just too addictive... as I couldnt stop myself from reading news every 15 minutes and checking exchange rates every 20 minutes.
Life is better without these apps.

I could go back, in fact I probably would go back to my beloved Nokia, were it not for the fact that Skype on a smartphone is making life easier.

There will be plenty running in the background. You'll be shocked at how many are still running.

I bought an SIII a while back. Had it two weeks before it broke down. One week in repair. Same day out of repairs down to the phone shops, sold it and got a new Nokia. Forget it. Spend all day long trying to find a acceptable wifi site. Even AIS and 3BB couldn't connect. I can't imagine what its like in the sticks or China...

    I agree with you there . . .

I've had an iPhone - gave it away to my 17-year old nephew
Samsung Galaxy S - lost it and wasn't too crazy about it anyway - the swype function was kind of cool, though (broke the screen - cost me a bundle to replace it)
Nokia Lumia - really don't like it and now use it as my alarm, whatsapp and calendar without a sim (cracked the glass - bloody things)

Bought myself an 800baht Nokia and am happy. It does what I need - a better speaker, easier sms-typing. That's all I need in a phone. Talk/hear and sms.

I am by no means a technology hater . . . but I find smart phones not to be smarter than the simpler ones when it comes to the basics.

I also don't find myself carrying it in my hand like some attention-starved teenager waiting for their next FB 'like'.

Getting a second number soon for another business and will use the other one again, though

Get Juice Defender to help with your battery life.

Also, learn how to turn off apps completely when you've finished with them.

To be honest, I much prefer my Windows Phone as it is a lot simpler. The Midget's Galaxy is complete overkill for 99% of the population.
