    Lamborghini Aventador Wrecked in Thailand

Car Crash: Lamborghini Aventador Wrecked in Thailand

A silver Lamborghini Aventador has been destroyed in Thailand after the 45-year-old male driver lost control in the slippery conditions.

The driver, who has acted as the managing director of the Asian Steel Bar Company was actually on the way to his father’s funeral when the incident happened.

While the exact cause of the crash is currently unclear, it’s likely that the driver was a bit too happy on the throttle in the tricky conditions.

When the crash occurred, the Lamborghini Aventador went on to hit two electrical poles and 2 trees before coming to a rest completely destroyed.

Despite the carnage produced by the crash, the driver managed to walk away with just minor injuries claiming than an amulet he was wearing contributed to his fortunate outcome.

    Damages estimated at 3.3M USD
    May 30, 2013

A trailer carrying several supercars caught fire in Thailand, causing massive damage to most of the vehicles.

The incident occurred in Bangkok's neighboring province of Nakohn Ratchasima where a trailer filled with supercars was affected by a massive fire which caused extensive damages to cars such as a Ferrari F430 (possibly a Scuderia), BMW X6 (M most likely), Lamborghini Murcielago and a Bentley Continental Flying Spur.

Luckily, another Bentley and a Mercedes-Benz were not affected by the fire, but the other four cars are worth around 100 million Baht (about 3.3M USD) taking into account the massive 200 percent import tax.

The cause of the fire is not known at the moment, but the local authorities are questioning the driver to find out what happened. Feel free to tell us if you know more. Let the Ferrari fire-related jokes commence.

Pakchong traffic stalled by burning Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bentley & BMW
    SUVICHA SUVICHA

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, 30 May 2013 (NNT) – Traffic on the Mitraphap Rd. section in the resort district of Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima grinded to a halt on Wednesday because 4 luxury cars were burning on a car transport trailer that was blocking the road.

Firefighters and volunteers tried to put out the fire, which started from a BMW and then spread to a Lamborghini, a Ferrari and then a Bentley. Despite their best efforts, the showpiece automobiles could not be saved.

The Lamborghini was the most expensive of the bunch, with an after-tariff price of around 40 million baht. The Ferrari had a price of about 30 million baht, the Bentley roughly 20 million baht, and the BMW about 10 million baht. Altogether the damage was estimated at 100 million baht.

Ekkaphan Wilamon, the trailer driver, said he found out about the fire when a truck driver driving in the opposition direction alerted him about the burning cargo.

The cars were being delivered to Sisaket province.

In addition to the scorching of the 4 dream machines, the incident also took a toll on commuters on the road, which links Bangkok with the Northeast; forcing traffic to come to a standstill for about an hour because the trailer with the burning cargo was blocking the entire road.

Evidently the burnt up autos were not the cars as registered. Seems while checking the VIN's nothing matched the registration. Perhaps a little insurance fire?

DSI seize cars and liquors suspected of illegal importation at warehouses

BANGKOK, 7 June 2013 (NNT) – Officials from the Department of Special Investigation yesterday conducted searches of 4 sites to find links to the luxury cars that burned down on top of a trailer in Nakhon Ratchasima last week, an incident that has sparked a rush by authorities to clamp down on car import tax evasion.

DSI officials searched the home of Thamma Motor Rich company's managing director Phonphimon Khehathan, and the warehouses of JMW Motor Co. Ltd., TAN Express Co. Ltd., and Phochai Auto Parts Co. Ltd. The search resulted in the finding of 5 cars, 3 Mercedes and 2 Maybachs, suspected of having had gone through the tax evasion process. 24,000 bottles of imported liquor, suspected to have been imported illegally, were also found in the warehouse of TAN Express.

DSI director-general Tharit Phengdit, after conferring with representatives from the Revenue Department, the Thai Industrial Standard Institute, the Central Institute of Forensic Science, the Customs Department and the Land Transport Department, said the ownership of luxury cars will be scrutinized and the total number of such cars and the list of the owners will be revealed by Monday (June 10).

Mrs was telling me some big local news about luxury car scamming rings selling dodgy imports in Thailand. They bring them in in parts and assemble them (with a few peices missing). Apparently they register them in Si Sa Ket due to the lax rego checking there. Anyone else heard of this?

The shipping company I dealt with a few years back told me about this. They take a few panels off the cars and mix them up a bit in containers before transporting to BKK. Under the table deal at the port sees them out on to a garage where they are put back together again. This was around 2005/6 but I imagine the wheeling & dealings haven't changed much.

Apparently it's back in the news. 'The talk of the town' I've been told. I think they're trying to bust up this syndicate, or at least look like they are trying to do something.
