At least the Dashcam owner could be done for speeding before the accident accrued ,if he showed it to the Police !!!

Perhaps an apology to well known Phuket personality Ian Potter is in order:

From the Phuket Gazette:
Correction: The original story yesterday named the driver, as repeatedly confirmed and spelled out to our reporters by Thalang Police Sub Lt Niphon Temsang, as "Martin Ian Potter". His reports of the surname were incorrect. The driver charged over the incident was Martin Ian Foster, who reportedly works in the hotel industry on Koh Maphrao.

The Gazette obtained the correction today when responsible police officers at Thalang Police Station allowed our reporters to finally sight the charge sheet, a request which had been denied by Sub Lt Niphon.

Sub Lt Niphon was not available today for comment.

watching the video, i can only say,the person who was injured(killed)does not really seem to be of much concern to the driver or passengers.

watched that, looks like the rider was dead, not much they could do i suppose. must be a shock, was doing 90kms though when he started beeping,couldnt make out the road signs but id say thats not over is it?

i watched the car fraud one after, that was funny

Driving @ nite in Thailand, after a "few" drinks is not a very wise idea ... especially in a built up area. I've been in 2 golf vans, enroute to a Golf Course near Pattaya, when a scooter shot out from a side soi and hit a car in front of us. In both cases both the car and motorcycle drivers ran away. Probably both had neither a driver's liscence or insurance. We carried on to the golf course. The Expat Driver said it was better not to be involved.

Why do you say the car driver was speeding?

If that had been the case, the car wouldn't have been able to stop as quickly as it did, with the bike and its rider coming to rest apparently in front of the stationary car, as shown in the video.

Perhaps not over the speed limit but approaching a junction of sorts where the car in front has stopped to turn right therefore limiting visibility it would have made sense to ease off the gas. I saw the bike coming and I'm pretty sure the driver did too. Magic horn to the rescue, no need to slow down... oh shit.

Why do you say the car driver was speeding?

Because it shows 103 kmph in the bottom right hand corner of the dash-cam prior to the accident on a road that has a 90kmph limit.
And as dirk diggler has pointed the driver shows all the attributes of the normal Thai Driver......plus he doing 92kmph at the time of the impact ( 2kmph over the limit ).That is........if the DC's are accurate

I am amazed there are not MORE accidents involving motorcycles... some are weaving in and out between cars so fast it would be impossible to say what caused the crash if one occurred.

That was a very good instructional video. ^^^^ The driver wasn't really speeding but should have been more observant. Still, it is -i.m.o.- the rider's fault for not being more careful than she was. It's a tough call as to who was right and who was wrong, but the rider always needs to be the more cautious. Accidents happen and the cyclist will always be the loser.
