Thread: Dual 1-year Thai / Laos visas. Permissible?

If I have a 1-year non B with a WP attached to it, and a multiple re-entry, can I get a 1-year Laos visa (in Laos) without it upsetting the authorities on either side of the borders?

What does that mean ?

What visas you have for other countries make no impact on your visa request for Thailand or Laos. (Unless the countries are at war)

I can see no reason for any problem, getting a one year visa for Laos is easy, try Saiawardz who are a company who do them, they charge $650 USD and say that you work for them.

Dunno why you'd pay $650 USD for a dodgy Lao Visa when you can get a 30 day Tourist Visa @ any Lao border crossing?

I've been quoted $300 USD.

^ let me know if that works out. Can't find anywhere cheaper than $650 right now.

Yes. You can have a long term Thai visa one year or even 5 years visa if you need it and still live anywhere in the world you wish. Just make sure you have a re-entry permit, multiple or single before you leave Thailand. A 5 year visa incidently is called an Elite Visa and can be issued on request on arrival to Thailand, usually Bangkok . The cost for the EV is I believe the princely sum of one million baht. It could be more as my superior at immigration offce where I work says it costs 10 million, but I think she's made an error. Howvever the holder of an EV still has to report in every 90 days and in addition, at the same time, must complete a (free) TM 7 application to stay a further 90 days. As far as I am aware there is no need for an EV holder to have a re-entry permit.

Also it says on the website that the fees still apply, so you still have to pay the 1900 baht for every 90 day extension.

i hold a 1 year extension for Thailand and multiple re-enrty permit and a 1 year extension for Cambodia.
