there you go. There are others but the search function is not the best. See no mention of Chaing Mai but many for Runtinin. Wifes old mom had her eyes done at 85, damn she could not believe it. I have never seen anyone so happy watching Muay Thai. She finally could see it.

Make sure you are in country for any follow up procedures.
It doesn't always work 100% first time. A further correction may be required.
Get a second or third opinion, there are few that will advise you if the technology is not adequate for the surgery you need,
especially if you need a strong correction or you have astigmatism.
Most companies have sales targets of course and that can take priority.
Laser eye surgery can't correct your reading vision.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

Definitely can be done in Chiangmai at St Peter's Hospital.

I go to Maharaj Nakorn Hospital for my eye checks (my Thai lady works there) and am waiting for the cataract to thicken up sufficiently for the op. My problem is that the cataracts aren't thickening up fast as I'm on a good diet (high Vit C intake) which my local docs in NZ reckon is contributing to the slight abatement of the cataracts, so I continue to need reading glasses.

I was hoping that the higher UV levels in NZ would speed up the cataract formation, but so far no luck.

Never mind, St Peter's Hospital Chiangmai is still the place to go to for both types of laser surgery.

do they use a laser to do cataracts?

I suppose some of them do and maybe that is more exact

Under local anesthesia, a surgeon performing phacoemulsification makes a small opening on the side of your cornea. A device that sends out ultrasound vibrations is inserted into the eye and breaks the lens into small pieces. The fragments are then removed by suction through the small cut in the eye.
Your eye doctor may use a laser to make the cut. The hope is that a more precise cut will further improve recovery from cataract surgery.

As far as I know laser cataract surgery is now the norm. My mother had her cataracts successfully removed using laser surgery more than twenty years ago, first one eye then the other a couple of months later. She was thrilled with the results.

all they need do to remove a cataract is to make a small slit, which can probably be done more accurately with a laser

the rest is as described in the literature to remove the lens and replace
