It seems that people where I live are being told that if they claim they were communists from way back they are entitled to 300,000 Baht per person. Why communists I cant fathom that bit out? In the next village they are being told they can also have free land down in Sa Kaeo, along the Cambodian border.
To get the 300,000 Baht, each person has to pay 2,000 Baht. My MIL is so convinced that she's applied on behalf of my wife and BIL, and paid the 6,000 Baht. My missus can see it's a scam, but the natives are being swallowed up big style here.
A woman up from me had 100,000 Baht in her bank. She pulled the lot out to pay for other family members which she believes will be repaid once their 300,000 Baht is issued.
Any scams like this going on where you live in monkey land?

I've figured out the free land bit, may be a bit hard on the cows though:

the landmine situation in Sa Kaeo Province bordering Cambodia, is the most densely mined area in Thailand

strangely, people are talking about claiming compensation

anyone that may have met him have now made up stories that he abused them, it is hilarious

whilst he did obviously abuse young teen girls, anyone else is a bit suspect
