Meanwhile, police have vowed to take legal action against anyone guilty of lewd conduct during Songkran celebrations.

Police spokesman Prawut Thavornsiri said some women had gone topless as they celebrated.

The police will study surveillance camera footage to identify the women.

If identified, they will be charged with obscene public behaviour.
