this section of the forum will be dedicated specifically to US issues....political, social, etc...

the rules of the main issue forum apply here, except i am the sole mod and rule with an iron fist.

anyone gets out of line....or thinks about getting out of line, you're banned.

    that's right, banned.

and if you don't like it, why don't you go mod your own section of the forum?

He cannot do this, we're not recruiting any more pinko commies as mods at the moment...

I suspect this thread may be moved to the cap's lounge later.

Reagan put an end to your dream ray. The Soviet Union... right into the dust bin of history. Pope John Paul II was the left hook and Ronald Reagan was the overhand right. Pow! Pow!

Unfortunately, Reagan may have been a deviation from the standard which we may never see again. It may be that we're all headed back into the republicanism of the blu blood new englanders. The USA is based on a system of economic and governmental liberalism. The republican party before Reagan was part of it. Look at Nixon, he didn't limit the role of the federal government in our lives, he increased it. Reagan was a whole new idea that traditional republicans have been separate from. Nowadays they conjure up Reagan at ceremonies and in speeches to placate people but they haven't followed his ideas. The repub party should never have turned on Gingrich he was the last one with any power who believed in the Reagan revolution.

I am so proud of the USA. That we can survive 8 years with a nincompoop like GWB as President. And the republic survives! We have the oldest constitution in the world, and still the strongest democracy. Sure we screw up, sure did in 2000 and 2004 (barely), but the republic survives. We'll do better this next election cycle I am sure. It seems that we "self-correct" occassionally, people like the middle of the road.

Had a nice chuckle yesterday, when the pastor of a local mega-church got caught out sniffing a little methaphetamine and poking a local gay prostitute. Oooops....

Greetings Kuhnt Gary. Welcome to the issues forum.
congratulations on your patriotic American sentiment.
Since we are an issues forum we do try to address things in as factual a manner as possible.
So just for your info it was the 2000 election that was so close that it was ultimately decided by the courts, not the 2004 election. Bush won in 2004 with a decisive victory in comparison.

And scum pastor Haggard admits his guilt of stupid indiscretions but his accuser also fails polygraph tests regarding his homosexual relations.

Next time check your facts! You will at least appear to be smarter than you really are!

The Republican revolution of 1994 was the last great stand of Conservative Republicanism. Since then a bunch of Democrats disguised as Republicans have taken over.

A lot of people made fun of Newt but he's far more conservative than anyone in power now.

Too bad the party of Reagan and Newt left the building several years ago. I wonder if it can be located?

Kinda like you posts have went from being conservative to trollish.

Guess you supported them record deficits under Reagan though.

My posts have always been conservative. Reagan had to deal with a Democratic HR, remember? Do you know where all appropriations begin? If there's a problem with government spending you blame it on the House of Reps because Constitutionally no dollar can be spent unless they approve first.

Being conservative doesn't mean supporting a foolish war either. Being conservative means supporting the Constitution emphatically and strictly (which is something neither you nor Boon Mee or some of the other 'conservatives' can claim).

Sorry to interject, just a note and clarification:

Milkman is the main mod looking after US domestic, as he's knowledgable and a frequent participant.

Got me there. I don't deny that at all. I'm not a hardcore conservative ... period. I believe I'm more of a moderate centrist liberal. Remember those quizzes you gave me a while back ?

However, just because I have some liberal tendencies doesn't mean I shouldn't do the right thing. That's why I support GWB. Common sense will tell you that.

Nation building is not a true conservative ideal either.

Nation building? Check. Deficit spending? Check. Running up the debt? Check. Imposing new regulations and taking away civil liberties? Check.

Nothing at all conservative about the current regime in Washington.

As I've said many times I don't oppose going after terrorists...it's the manner in which we are doing it (and failing) that I oppose.

I wish would would do alot more in alot of domestic areas as well. Education, health care, public transportation, housing ... probably many of the same issues as you are concerned about.

But I really don't give two shits what any other country thinks or any of our own citizens think when it comes to how the US deals with these fucking sicko raghead fundamentalist terrorist Muslims. Fuck them ... fuck them all.

Like I said before ... it will only last for the tenure of George Bush ... but I'm damn glad we get a President every once in a while who stops and smells the coffee, and realizes diplomacy often doesn't work or takes far too long.
