He's been off line for 6 hours.
    I PM'd him as soon as I posted, 4 1/2 hrs ago.
    Obviously no reply yet.

He's probably asleep after getting that cold shower he mentioned.

Has he got anyone with him?

5th day with a fever, the shits, aching joints, feeling crap is not the mildest form.
Where he is now is a high risk area.

He said a client's medic checked him, so maybe the client is keeping an eye on him.
You can't easily distinguish which type he's got until the disease progresses.

It's not necessarily hemorrhagic type, but seems severe.
    We'll know in the morning.

I felt OK to start with on day 6 or 7, then the headaches banged in again , off and on.
    He'll tell us.

mornin gents..another crappy night..from me homework and what you blokes have put here, i might have got lucky and just got the mild viral...maybe i,m too pickled to get the full dose..i reckon the onset started friday night, the headache ain,t as bad and the rash seems to have dissapaited abit, though me hands are still tingley and still feel like i went over a waterfall in a 44 gal drum...and yea the big SA Medic is popping in today to say g,day..so ..here it ozzie day and a bloke can,t have a beer...bugger

once again thanks fellas for the thoughts..what worries me is, i am now a carrier, if a mossie bights me it is then infected and can potentially pass on the infection..what a nasty little bug..gonna contact, the UN also and let them know so they can organise a foggin program in the district

Good to see it's not serious, hope you make a full recovery before you go back to Thailand. If it makes you feel better, I'm not having a beer today either, I've got to go see my little bitch have trial today. Have a good Australia day Ned.

I was told that I'm a carrier, too, and got blamed for spreading it by travelling through an uninfected area below 20 degrees north or south of the equator.
Soon it'll be 25 degrees N+S. as conditions allow both the dengue virus and the dengue mosquito to thrive together. It's got to be warm and wet enough.

An immunity can be acquired for that strain, but not for the others.

Unless you get it a second time, with another strain, which can be fatal.

Glad to hear you're over the worst!

    Keep grinning mate!

Hey Sunsetter, sounds like you got the hemorrhagic dengue fever.

Not only skinny but lost appetite too, I don't eat as much these days either, but healthy as sack of rabbits now.
That was 4 yrs ago I got it.
The less virulent forms now only give me a mild flue at best now.
I suspect that I've had dengue two or three times since, maybe it was just bush typhoid.

Here's a good description of dengue and how it spreads.

From your link, I don't think you have had Dengue three times since ENT

As regards to prevention, a vaccine has proven rather difficult to produce. The reason for this stems from the 4 subtypes of deng
    ue

If an individual develops immunity to one subtype and then tries to launch an immune response to another subtype then they will develop DHF/DSS

^^ Don't talk rubbish Sabai. and lardarse ^, you've got your heads in the wrong place.

    Immunity to dengue.

Can immunity develop against dengue fever?

A single attack of dengue fever can give protection for about 9 months. After several attacks a degree of immunity is attained, which can be termed as “permanent” immunity against dengue fever virus. Some cross immunity also exists between dengue and other similar arboviruses (flavivirus) like yellow fever virus.

    http://nethealthsite.com/diseases-wi...gue-fever.html

I 1st had hemorrhagic dengue then had two or three suspected bouts of a less virulent form for over a period of about a year following the first bout.

There's another 5-7 days ahead for you.

    Different types of dengue.

Worst form is hemorrhagic, where all the little red dots on your skin connect up and you start to bleed under the skin,

The same is happening in your intestines.

You start going through autolysis, self digestion, as you digest your own blood and shit it out as a black liquid.

Your urine may also be dark.

5-7 days solid non-stop headache, then 5-7 days of intermittent headaches.

SPASMS, your body gets tense and stiffens.

    Very high temperature.

NO appetite for anything, food, beer, cigarettes (good time to stop smoking for keeps).

DON''T take aspirin, makes bleeding worse.

DONT drink alcohol at all for weeks.

DON'T tough it out on your own, but you think you can, make sure someone is around, better still go to a hospital, it's the best.

DO drink plenty of water with.... 1tablespoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon salt per litre ,...for dehydration.

DO drink water all the time.

DO take a Vit C tablets every hour, or so.

DO take an opiate muscle relaxant.

DO take codeine for the headaches.

    DO sleep and rest lots.

DO cool your head with cold water etc.

I'm typing with spaces because you might find it hard to read by now.

I caught it a few years back, it's no good at all, hemorrhagic form.

ACT NOW GO TO HOSPITAL MATE.
Ned.... Sorry to hear about your Dengue. It is no fun at all. ENT gave you a good list and you should read each line again. It all matters with Dengue. After you get over it, you need LOTS of rest to get your platelet count back up. Until you do that, you will feel weak and there is a risk of "post dengue depression" which can be serious and take years to get over. Totally avoidable if you take it easy. Nothing has set me back in life like Dengue. Read the list as that will help a lot. Good luck.

I had Dengue on Tao once. Foked me up well and proper for 2 weeks, nasty shit but one day you just wake up and feel a lot better.

Unless you got it in the brain and then your dead.

    You'll be right Ned.
