Sukhothai Historical Park. A Photo Tour.

Or a bit of a one anyway, of the Historical Park.

Sukhothai Historical Park - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's not a bad ride up from BKK, I'd personally take the 11 than the 1.

Riding from there gives plenty of options, the great North, the mountains of Tak, or the central Thai mountains of P'lok and Petchabun.

We stayed in Mountain View resort which was a bit rustic but comfy. Think it was about 800b.

Had two gekho(?) eggs in the door lock when going to bed, but three the next day.

    Were lovely on toast.

I quite like that photo when you see the size of the two people in it.

    The infamous hand.

Went out early the following morning to some of the less known temple sites, lovely really compared to the well presented touristy Hist. Park.

It's a beautiful part of the country.

    A hard day's work.

Lots of creepy crawlies to bump into.

This guy just fly off before I could get him into focus.

The well revered, but little known 'Hamburger Plant'.

Tiz a nice trip and a must stop really for anyone living or even visiting here.

A very nice 2-3 day trip, or 1 day 1 night if on the way to Chiang Mai.

    Thanks CM. Nice thread.

Its surprising how big the site of Sukhotai is when you get there. No exactly compact and takes a while to see it all. On your way back from the north try to check out Sri Satchanalai which is not too far away and sited on a river. Even a campsite in the park itself.

You need to learn how to use your camera. I'm guessing you have bought an SLR but are clueless about how to actually use it.

I've still yet to see Sukothai even though it's only a few hours away.

Your "Mr. Earl-esque" bike shot is nice. What speed can you get her up to?

They were all done with a point and shoot.

Being wrong continues to be a recurring theme of yours huh.

Must agree, I'm not big on black and white.

Anyway, well done Mao and I must say I'm bloody jealous of your little tours.

Awesome touring up there and keep it up.

Great trip CM - I like the photos!!
Once you get the bike out of BKK there are so many great options!

For me 21 is a bit better than 11.
I went 11 via Singburi once, got lost, and drove 50km on a really terrible road along side an irrigation klong.
Options (there or back ) is to turn off / on (on 11) at Nong Bua through to Bueng Samphan head back towards BKK and stop in for some famous Wichain Buri BBQ chicken and then link back onto 225 - my favourite scenic route to Chaiphum.

Any road in the Phetchabun province is going to be great touring with the country side and the mountains

Talking about food, it's worth trying the Thai/western restaurant in P'lok -heading out of town on the Sukhothai rd, over the river, first set of lights (old city walls) turn left and about 40m on the left is a thai house on the corner of the soi to to the Jasmine hotel
Food is great, the Jasmine hotel "relatively" western, new and at 900 per night for 2 room, 2 bathroom suite but no breakfast it is OK

Now your there - we can look forward to pic on the way back?

Cheers, have some business to attend to for a week or two in BKK then think it will be a week's tour of the North.

^ Cheers, will note all those for the next pass through. Afraid this trip was done back in June.

What pointless criticism from EN! What is this? Some sort of Photo Competition? Great photos CM. Sometimes B&W bring out far more interesting points than colour. Continue with the your tour reports, CM. Much appreciated.

Pay no attention, I've reduced her to obsessive fantasies about my mother, repeatedly calling my wife a whore, and vocal criticism of anything I do.

Some people don't handle jealousy very well.

Actually the B&W used for the Historical Park pictures suited me just fine and I like the fact that you kept the country side pictures in their natural color state. The lotus pond pictures were appealing to me... the pink blossoms added just the correct amount of color. well done. U did a good job on focusing for the micro shots although I don't care much for the subject's of those pictures. Very nice pictorial. Well done CM. Thanks for taking the time to post the pics and share.

    Thanks, you're welcome.

Scrolling down the OP I like the contrast between the B+W shots and the sudden colour shot of the Phra Achana Hand, as it itself becomes more radiant in the same manner.

But that's just my personal opinion.

Maybe think about buying a better one then or checking the settings. Very poor quality shots of a very nice area.

Not actually I was gonna mention exactly that , but to me it seems a fairly obvious contrast .

If it pisses with rain here like it promises this weekend I will have a very quick splash and dash with me watercolours of your pic with the mountain in the back ground and the little rice store in front of the water , and stick on here if thats ok with you

That would be great, really great. Make sure to stick them up.

Just be careful about using the correct brushes or you'll have one of the simpleton haters on here calling your wife a whore.

Sanyo I'd say looking at the pics, probably the X1420?

Not bad shots with a point and push, I haven't been to Sukhothai since I've had decent cameras, must go again.....

    I like them anyway.

Funny you say that, someone bumped my old 'post a picture of a stereotype' thread today, I just opened it up before this and there's my wife being called a whore.
