    Letter of residence confirmation

Does anyone know if Immigration do a letter of residence confirmation and what's involved?

My mate wants to renew his driving license next month, he doesn't have a WP, so he needs this letter for the Ministry of Land and Transport.

The good old British Embassy charge B1900 for this. I was under the impression he could get the same from immigration for a lot cheaper.

    Cheers, DsD...

He's got the non-imm and rental contract. Can he get a letter the same day from Chaeng Wattana?

Concur with dogcatcher's response. As I recall though, it was not issued the same day (unless I was willing to pay under the table money), because suposidly, the Immi police are suposed to actually check out the residence and the fact that the applicant is residing there. Again, as I recall, I had to come back in 3 days... I was not in a hurry and was not going to pay monies under the table... let the guys do their job....

Took my passport, 2 passport pictures, and Yellow House book to Immigration Udon Thani, paid 300 baht. A little later the immigration letter was given. All done on the same day.

Honda Udon wanted the Immigration letter.

When I bought a new motorbike, the dealer did not want one, and said my Yellow House book, copy of passport, and visa was fine.

Also needed the letter when I got my first Thai Driving Licence.

Got my letter of residency at the Amphur office in Ban Chang a few years ago.

Copies of it has working fine since then. (Tea-money not needed but appreciated).

Might vary depending on which office you go to but my experience has been that a Letter of Residence Confirmation from immigration is free if you have a current and valid 90 day report.
Otherwise there is a charge of about 300 baht.
