Now that's the worst news I've seen since joining this forum. I had already listed Icey as the #1 attraction to check out in Pattaya when I move there in April. And now, before we have the chance to explore each other's ... umm ... personalities, she'll be gone!

Excuse me. I'm off to have a good cry!

Actually in April I will be in Pattaya because it is my 18th birthday and I'm going out in Pattaya with some family and friends. They want to see me crawl back home! Lovely!
    Welcome to the jungle!

I've lived in Pattaya from 1996-99 and loved it. Wouldn't mind going back there.

Pattaya is what you make it.

    Like any place.

If it starts to become hell, people should leave.

Some folks should only stay there for short stints. It can be hard to leave for some, but it's the best way for many. Not for all though.

I like many aspects of Pattaya.

If I ever retire, and I don't know if I will, my main downfall will be my love of beer.

People can live a healthy life there and do a lot of different things, though.

I like Pattaya for the occasional weekend, sitting and watching in walking street makes me feel more normal. So after an evening watching the loonies, I go home feeling much better about myself. The next day there is some great seafood to be scored further along the coast.

Haven't voted yet 'cause I want to know. In Amsterdam I could smoke weed, visit porno theatres, perv at 'live sex' on stage. Heck, I could even eat a bannana inserted into a (rather aged) vagina. Oh, and then there were the real cheap whores (and their wares could be inspected before the deed). No nasty surprises. Plus I liked the fact that the Dutch put mayonnaise on their french fries. Can I savour the same delights in Pattaya?

You can in Bangkok, so I would think so in Pattaya too.

I would agree living there, but for a visit its great. Many good restaurants at sensible prices with a fair variety of food although the crap English food predominates.
A beer or two at reasonable price while watching the passing moron parade in walking st.
Good entertainment without hassle, i.e. Champions, TQ2 or whatsup, prob many others but they are my usual.

I will be there this weekend as DD has promised me a big Roast beef sandwich.

Pattaya heaven or hell? Silly question.
    It's both.

As for living there/here, many people love it. Others crash and burn, or move up country for the quiet life.
As for me, living out of town near Mabprachan reservoir works just fine. Pattayas nearby, when I want it.

Regarding Pattaya, is it heaven or hell, I am reminded of a famous Latin phrase used in the law.

'res ipsa loquitur.' Translation: The thing speaks for itself.

    I rest my case.

It's OK though I'm not as fond of it as I used to be. Decent for a single man but definately not for all these clueless families who booked the cheapest package tour with the name "Thailand" on it. It does have a very good variety of restaurants, in my opinion the best selection in the Kingdom. But I can no longer book a 3 week trip to Thailand and spend it all in Pattaya. It's OK for a few days but the southern beaches are a league above the place traveling halfway around the world just to stay in Pattaya seems a wast considering the incredible serenic beauty just a few hundred more kilometers south.

I have not swam next to Beach road but one of my Honeys took me to a pretty nice beach around Soi 18 North of down town.

The water "looked" clean. There was fairly good food and drink right at the beach not at farang prices...
