Ok this is an old one from 2005 so involves Don Muang Airport rather than Suvarnabhumi Airport, so anyway, my mate makes his way to the Bangkok airport with his massive overstay, we all know it is 500baht per day and a maximum of 20,000baht, pretty easy to remember for the thickest of people, sadly Thai immigration don't make the grade on the thickest people.
So a quick run through of what happened, he gets to the airport and checks in then goes to pay his overstay, the Thai immigration officer spends a long time working out how many days it is due to there lack of mathmatic skills, I still remember my father applying for a 365 day visa, well it does fuking say how many days,... Nov 20, 2009 - 10:44 PM - by dirtydog |
Well I decided to have a quick breakfast in Jomtien this morning, at the time of morning I was up there aren't many Jomtien restaurants open and I couldn't be bothered going to Pattaya, so Surf kitchen was the lucky restaurant.
Now this isn't up to the standards of places like Jomtien Boathouse or Bruno's, nor is it in that sort of price range, just about everything on the menu is less than 300baht and the menu is a ridiculous 100 pages long, well, at a wild guess it seemed that long, also handy if you happen to be a Russian tourist as it is in Russian aswell.
They do all the normal Thai meals plus a large selection of Italian, German and French dishes so obviously... [Read More]

Well, not all of old Bangkok but one little bit of it. Here's a pleasant stroll you can take if you are at a loose end and want to go a little off the tourist trail. Firstly you will need to make your way to Rommaneerart Park. I usually get here by walking up Yaowarat Road from Hualumpong station which is at the end of the underground rail system.
When I first arrived in Bangkok , Rommaneerart Park was still a prison . In converting it to a park a few of the old prison buildings were saved from demolition. One houses an interesting museum about the former prison with many old photos and information on the old Thai penal system. As you enter the park at the South East corner... [Read More]

Nov 20, 2009 - 1:46 PM - by chitown |
Fermentation has been used by mankind for thousands of years for raising bread, fermenting wine and brewing beer. The products of the fermentation of sugar by baker's yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae (a fungus) are ethyl alcohol and carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide causes bread to rise and gives effervescent drinks their bubbles. This action of yeast on sugar is used to 'carbonate' beverages, as in the addition of bubbles to champagne).
Set up a fermentation in a closed system and capture the generated carbon dioxide to carbonate our home made ginger ale. You may of course adjust the quantities of sugar and/or extract to taste. Note that the lemon called for in step eight is... [Read More]

Nov 19, 2009 - 9:32 PM - by Scottish Gary |
Im planning a trip to visit Phnom Penh in february. I will be flying in from Bangkok. Is the visa issued on arrival or do you need one before you go. If the wife insists on going then what are the requirements for a Thai to get a visa. And finally how safe is the place to wander around at night.
cheers
