Jan 07, 2009 - 6:56 AM - by WujouMao
i went to another Khmer style temple in Lopburi as a day trip, before going to Sukhothai
Prang Sam Yot - it was the only decent worthwhile picture i could take, unless i stayed the night and seen the floodlights shine it up

» Mae Hong Son Province, Pai, Hotsprings Spa Resort, Northern Thailand
Jan 07, 2009 - 2:34 AM - by S Landreth
Link: http://www.paihotspringssparesort.com/

I did not see any reviews on Teakdoor about this resort so I thought I would give anyone who was interested some information about the trip we took to Pai in January, 2009.

Last Saturday (1/3/09) in the late morning we left BKK (Don Mueang) for Chiang Mai on Nok Air (Nokair.com) then from Chiang Mai we connected with another flight on Nok Air to Pai where we were picked up by the Hotsprings Spa Resort driver and taken to the resort.

» Chiang Rai Province
Jan 07, 2009 - 1:36 AM - by WujouMao
I stayed up in Chiang Rai to have a butchers at a white temple i saw on Thai TV. it wasnt even in my lonely planet, so i thought its got to be off the tourist track.

The White Temple is a modern temple, about 10 years old. Everything is done by just one man, and he's doing [or by now, should of finished the clock tower in town]

» Seoraksan National Park in Korea -2007
Jan 07, 2009 - 12:25 AM - by phuketbound
I took a bus over to the north eastern part of Korea to go hiking at Seoraksan National park. This park is highly praised, and most Koreans go there at least once in their lives. The mountains are unique in that they are jagged, and rocky looking.

The weather was overcast, so my pics aren't as clear as I would of liked. It rained for most of the few days I was there. It was still worth going.

I did two hikes. One was called Ulsan Bawi (3.5 hours), and the other one was a waterfall hike (2 hours).

» Prasat Khao Wihan National Park
Jan 06, 2009 - 9:18 PM - by WujouMao
i know this temple is in Cambodia, but the only way to see it before the area was closed, was through the National Park in Thailand. I stayed in Kantharalak which is in Si Saket province. Next day took a săwngthăew to Phum Saron which is 10km from the temple, where i picked up a motorcyle taxi to Prasat Khao Wihan National Park

» Buriram province temples
Jan 06, 2009 - 7:26 PM - by WujouMao
There's so many temples in Buriram, most are a pile of blocks, and some i havent visited mainly due to not able to ride a motorbike. This is Phanom Rung Historical Park which is atop an extinct volcano.. Built in the 10th and 13th centuires during the reign of King Suriyavarman. The restoration took 17 years to complete.

» A visit to Mataphut immigration office, or two actually.
Jan 06, 2009 - 4:48 PM - by the dogcatcher
A couple of months ago I visited immigration in Mataphut to get a certificate of residence, or whatever the hell its called, anyway the one you need to buy a car etc.
The nice lady told me that because I had'nt reported within 24 hours of my arrival
that she would have to fine my friends wife 800baht cos I was living at her house, but could sort out everything ie not getting a naughty boy stamp in my passport for a donation to the immigration police benevolent fund.
Bung accepted all o.k.
O.K. not a problem, I knew this but 2 weeks in Pattaya having fun sounded better than 2 weeks in a one horse Thai village waiting for my Laos G.F.
So bought a car (Hilux Vigo,... [Read More]

» Kissinger Calls for a New World Order
Jan 06, 2009 - 3:00 PM - by Jesus Jones
By Kurt Nimmo

Every time I see the aged Henry Kissinger, I am reminded of the worst sort of pornography. In fact, I am reminded of a snuff film. Henry Kissinger is likely one of the most notorious killers on the planet, a monster that makes Charles Manson look like a silly school boy. Manson did not actually kill anybody. He had his brainwashed zombies engage in the dirty work. Kissinger didn’t kill anybody either. He had the Pentagon, the CIA, and various cutthroat clients do his dirty work, that is to say the dirty work of the global elite. Charlie had a few deranged girls on LSD do his bidding. Henry enlisted whole armies to commit the crimes he engineered for his... [Read More]

» Candle Festival, Ubon Ratchanthani 08
Jan 06, 2009 - 3:57 AM - by WujouMao
i took a 3 week holiday to Thailand to see the Candle Festival in Ubon Ratchanthani in july 2008. After picking up leaflets from Thailand last year, i knew i had to see this!

just 2 of these cost B300. thats about a fiver. A thing like that in UK would cost more, and thats just one of them!

ok. i rocked up a couple of days before the festival kicked off. i wanted to see the Monks preparing the statues by cutting the wax from the molds by hand, and placing them on the figures, and the floats.

» I going to hold the chanote
Jan 06, 2009 - 3:18 AM - by bartman355
Okay this is my first post so be gentle

Im planning to buy 7.5 rai outside of khon kaen with my g/f

she says it will be 300000 baht for everything

28000 per rai plus taxes land registry and new chanote in her name

Does this sound about the right amount of costs 210000 for land and 90000 for everything else.

Also if i hold the chanote (my idea with g/f approval) will this stop any chance of family members borrowing money against the land at the bank or is it easy to get a replacement family seem good people... [Read More]

» Retaining Walls(Holding it all in)
Jan 06, 2009 - 2:20 AM - by Issan Man
As I previously posted we are soon going to have the Landfill done, and will need to Build a good strong Retaining wall to hold all of this soil in place, so that it does not spread onto the surronding Rice Paddies and pissoff all of the NativesWhat in your considered opinions would be the best Method to employ for a really strong job. When the landfill goes in it wil be 1.5M or thereabouts, but will obviously settle over the next couple of years to around about a Meter I should Imagine. There will be a considerable amount of weight againts the proposed Retaining wall, and I only want to...
