I just wondering about the taxi drivers at the airport because of the scams that go on and what to look out for. Are there any alternatives to using a cab driver.
Because i want to spend a night in bangkok and rest up for the trip to pattaya on the next day.

I'll be in Bangkok on June 24. Can anyone recommend a good bar to watch the game in the Nana / Asoke area?
Temples and Thai culture is great but I will miss my Rugby League.
Thanks in advance.

Does anybody know of a shop in BKK that could transfer footage from a VHS videotape to a Quicktime file or DVD?
I am also seeking the same service for audio cassette as I no longer have a cassette player and never did in Thailand.
Cheers,
TGS
There are services in the UK that do it but I'm sure they will be bastard expensive in comparison.

I shall to be staying about 5 minutes away from the Sam Yan BTS stop and wondered if there were any farang eateries / watering holes or other activities that you might direct me to.
I am looking in that general area as I prefer not to be hopping the BTS around Bangkok for proper meals.
Dish and Chips maybe?

1.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a cheapo place somewhere in the city, close to an MRT or BTS . I don't need swimming pools or TVs, just a bed to sleep off hangovers and a fan to keep the mozzies off. And one that will allow me to stagger in at undignified hours. About 500 baht or less mark.
2.
Sim card, any recommendations for a sim to use for 3 weeks and then throw away?
3.
From the airport, will be arriving late, no luggage and have spare time. Best way of getting to the city, do buses run late at night?

Hi everybody,
I have been a quiet reader on this Forum for a while. Fantastic threads, pics and info! Thank you very much.
I will be coming to Bangkok on 5th or 6th of May and am looking for a Budget Hotel / apartment / room / studio around Lat Phrao MRT (or Ratachada or Suthisan) or close to Chatuchak Park (close to Mochit, Saphan Kwai, Ari BTS).
My budget is about max 600-700 THB per day, clean and quiet, (TV, fridge, AC) and if I could have internet (i.e. Wifi) and a pool for that, that would be perfect.
I am happy with a local hotel. Don't have to be able to book online.
Will be staying for a week. Later possibly also looking into a monthly... [Read More]
